I have a bad habit of not drinking enough water. I prefer Coke Zero or other sparkling drinks. I love the feeling of the bubbles on my tongue. I also drink a lot of coffee. The caffeine keeps me alert when I’m writing or teaching. I should drink more water though and perhaps delete some of the more unhealthy options from my diet.

Yesterday, I went through my ideas folder and found a few thoughts written down that were really weak ideas. Just scraps and not something that could be developed into a short story or novel. In the past, I kept every single note for fear of losing something, but I found it quite liberating to delete these yesterday. It freshened my files up, and rather than being scared, I saw it as a positive development that I could see what had value and what did not. Do not be scared to delete something that’s not working, and then move on.

  • Of Reinventions and Regrets

Well, I’ve calmed down a bit after my hair disaster yesterday, but it’s been replaced by extreme regret. I wish I had never touched my hair! It will take over a year for it to grow out, so 2026 is the year of the black bob. I arrived at school and the comments ranged from…
