Today is Monday, a day nobody much likes, as we are back to work. I have to get a bus or walk to the academy at the moment, and today the heavens suddenly opened when I was on my way to the bus stop. It was too late to go back for an umbrella. I didn’t want to miss my bus. So I dashed to the stop, and to the academy building, but I still got utterly soaked. My shoes were squelchy, my t-shirt was wet, and my hair was dripping.

Add to that, it’s the day I promised myself I’d start tackling the science open class planning, our twenty year old Hyundai is in the car shop, and we have to move out for two days until they repair the seal on the toilet and I started to feel pretty miserable. Thankfully the kids cheered me up, laughing at my wet hair, giving me hugs, and telling me where they’d been at the weekend.

Today was graduation day for the kindergarten kids. It went well. We had rehearsed a lot, so on the whole it went without a hitch. The children all got their awards and bowed and then sang a song by Bruno Mars called The Day My Life Begins. It was bittersweet. The mothers and fathers all…

  • Of Days off and Duolingo

Well my days off have ended and I was back at work today. Luckily there are two free periods on a Thursday so it wasn’t a total shock to the system. I was able to ease back in. Tomorrow is a full day but it’s almost the weekend. I didn’t do the things I’d planned…
