I am not a scientist, but, if you read my blog, you’ll know that this month I have to do a science open class (and three more science lessons in the lead up to it). I’m dreading it. I don’t even have high school science to fall back on as I studied arts almost exclusively. The irony is many members of my family are scientists and this would be so easy for them. I’ve chosen motion as the theme and I’m desperately hoping the kids enjoy it and learn something.

There’s so much noise in my job and my life. Chattering children are always noisy. Teachers have to talk a lot. At home, the TV is usually on. My favourite time of the day lately is early in the morning, when the TV is off and my fiance has gone to work, before I go get the bus. For a couple of hours I just rest, read and enjoy the silence. Sometimes I doze off in the peace and quiet, so I always set my alarm so that I can get my shower and catch the bus. I cherish that time every day, but tomorrow I have to sacrifice it and go to work early.

  • Of Reinventions and Regrets

Well, I’ve calmed down a bit after my hair disaster yesterday, but it’s been replaced by extreme regret. I wish I had never touched my hair! It will take over a year for it to grow out, so 2026 is the year of the black bob. I arrived at school and the comments ranged from…
