The new Frankenstein movie by Guillermo del Toro looks amazingly beautiful, and like it’s going to do the book, by Mary Shelley, justice. I read the book again recently and was struck by how monstrous Frankenstein was, not just his creation.  Much has been written about it, and many movies made, but I feel like the book still has relevance today. I’m going to wait and watch it, when I’m in Scotland, with my son-in-law, who is excited about this new production.

Today I was frustrated by one student, although I couldn’t show him that, as he delights in attention for bad behaviour. He is just a young boy, I know, but I can tell he is smart though he puts so little effort in. Other kids can be bribed with marshmallows or stickers for good behaviour, but not him. He doesn’t care. Nothing works but I need to get through to him somehow. Being angry has no effect other than to make him laugh. For now I am ignoring all the negative behaviour and praising him for the little work he does produce.

Korea has great beauty products but the choice was bewildering. I bought a serum and moisturiser (Biodance) as well as lip balm…

  • Of Reinventions and Regrets

Well, I’ve calmed down a bit after my hair disaster yesterday, but it’s been replaced by extreme regret. I wish I had never touched my hair! It will take over a year for it to grow out, so 2026 is the year of the black bob. I arrived at school and the comments ranged from…
