Merry Christmas everyone. We didn’t put our decorations up in the house, but I decorated my classroom for the kids. I used to go all out with decorations when my daughter was young but it didn’t seem worth it here when it’s just one day off, and not a proper festive season. I still have the Christmas spirit though. I’m making Christmas dinner today.

I also treated myself, on the Kindle, to two books I used to have hard copies of. I got Bill Bryson’s Dictionary for Writers and Editors plus Stephen King’s On writing. Both very useful and inspirational books for any would be writer.  I recommend them. I had a dream this morning I met another writer in the library and we were looking for books to help with our craft. We connected on Facebook. When I woke up I felt sad she wasn’t real as she was fun to talk to.

Today was graduation day for the kindergarten kids. It went well. We had rehearsed a lot, so on the whole it went without a hitch. The children all got their awards and bowed and then sang a song by Bruno Mars called The Day My Life Begins. It was bittersweet. The mothers and fathers all…

  • Of Days off and Duolingo

Well my days off have ended and I was back at work today. Luckily there are two free periods on a Thursday so it wasn’t a total shock to the system. I was able to ease back in. Tomorrow is a full day but it’s almost the weekend. I didn’t do the things I’d planned…
