I figured, after ruining my hair, I should try a milder form of reinvention, so yesterday I invested in some skincare. My routine is usually cleanse with soap! I don’t use fancy stuff. Korea has great beauty products but the choice was bewildering. I bought a serum and moisturiser (Biodance) as well as lip balm (Burt’s Bees). It’s a start. I used them last night and this morning, and my skin felt lovely. So soft and plump. I have fine lines now at my age so maybe the potions will help prevent too many wrinkles.

My dreams are sometimes in series, with the same characters featuring. I had a nap, because the bedding on the underheated floor is just so cozy, and dreamt again of my friend Sung Woo. Last dream he was sprinkling sumac all over his Christmas dinner and I tried it. The lemony tang and earthy taste was delicious. This time we went shopping to find some of this exotic spice. I’ve never actually used sumac but now I want to. I doubt I can get it in Korea though.

  • Of Dye and Disasters

I naturally have golden brown hair. I saw a few greys creeping in, and I thought I’d go to the salon and get it lifted a shade or two just to brighten me up. Big mistake. It turned out the brassiest gold ever. I was horrified. I think the hair stylist left the dye on…
