I was a bit shocked to read about Project Panama. The company Anthropic AI destroyed 2 million books to scan them and train their AI machines. According to the Times of India article, the company reasoned that long form texts would teach artificial intelligence more effectively, but to do that their fast scanning system required to books to be cut apart. I suppose it would be too slow to do it any other way. I can only hope they used mass produced books and not texts of which there are limited copies.

On another topic, I’m really trying hard to diet but my fiance took me out for pasta tonight. I panicked and ordered the black pepper pasta, which is a creamy sauce, rather than have the common sense to limit the damage and order a tomato based sauce. Luckily I hadn’t eaten much today so I’m still within my calorie limit but I felt a bit guilty. Dieting is difficult but I’m not giving up this time.
