Today I played bass guitar for a couple of hours. It’s the first time I’ve played in about two months. I had my nails done and couldn’t pluck the strings without making an annoying clicking noise, and I’m not comfortable using a pick. Now my nails are back to normal I can play again! I missed it so much. When I held my bass again it felt so familiar but when I played it took my fingers a while to loosen up. They felt cumbersome at first but I warmed up.

I love Coca-Cola. Ever since my first sip of it out of an ice cold, curvy glass bottle as a child, I’ve loved it. I usually drink Diet Coke as the real thing is a bit sugary for my teeth. Here in South Korea though it’s Coke Zero that’s available. I usually drink 500ml bottles or 355ml cans, both of which taste pretty good. I was disappointed yesterday when I bought a 250ml bottle from the mart and it was half flat and tasted fake. It tasted like cola from a sodastream not like Coke. The bottle looked authentic so I don’t know what was wrong.

Yesterday I was so hungry on my diet. I have lost over just 2 kg so I decided to award myself a cheat day today. I’m going to get back on the diet tomorrow. Back to counting calories. It’s really just one day. I haven’t given up. So this morning as well as my ice…

  • Of Project Hail Mary and Passwords

I have read quite a few books in the past year or so, but the one I have enjoyed the most is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (author of The Martian). It’s a story of survival, but also friendship and humanity. It’s science fiction but not too sciency or too technical. It’s the kind…

I was a bit shocked to read about Project Panama. The company Anthropic AI destroyed 2 million books to scan them and train their AI machines. According to the Times of India article, the company reasoned that long form texts would teach artificial intelligence more effectively, but to do that their fast scanning system required…
