I am on a diet. I started just over a week ago and have lost 2.8 Kg. I’m sure I will stick to it this time, as I am in a more positive frame of mind lately. I have a lot of weight to lose but have promised myself a treat for every 10 Kg. I saw a pretty dress in Homeplus last week, and the thought of wearing it inspired me to keep trying. It was only 39,000 won so maybe I will buy it. I may have to try a similar incentive scheme to keep myself writing.

I saw that Frederick Forsyth has died today, at the age of 86. He famously wrote The Day of the Jackal in 35 days! There’s no way I could achieve that and teach full time, but I suppose if I wrote even 500 words every day it would soon add up to a substantial amount. I’m sure I read once that some authors try to write 1,000 words every day and I think that consistency is probably key.

It was special to me because I had worked at the West Freugh Satellite Ground Station, years ago, tracking satellites…
