I probably should go to the doctor. I hurt my knee three weeks ago, when I did too much walking at a coffee festival in Seoul. Maybe it was too many stairs in the subway system. I think it will get better in time, and if I lose weight it will help. Going to the doctor is hard as they mostly speak Korean, obviously. My fiance has to translate for me. It’s not ideal.

I also miss conversation here. I can talk to the teachers and my fiance but otherwise I exist in isolation. This is a drawback in another way. I read that a good way to improve your dialogue writing is to listen to people talking naturally, but I can’t. I speak a little basic Korean but I can’t follow the rapid pace of the speech around me. I really want to write better dialogue. The only other avenue open to me is TV but that is already scripted. If you get the chance, listen to others speaking. Pay attention to how they talk. It will improve your writing.

My fiance used to play in a hobby band, just for fun. They met up last week for a meal for the first time in ages, while I was watching Michael at the cinema with the native teachers. They decided they’d like to play together again. They were a band on and off for ten…
