I saw in the Guardian, last month, that The Novelry are running a competition with a $100,000 first prize. One should submit the first 3 pages (1,500 words) of a novel. The winner will be supported for a year and helped to progress their novel. Another eight entrants will win The Finished Novel writing course from the Novelry. The cost is 15 UK pounds per entry and there is no limit to the amount of entries you can submit. The deadline is 31st July 2025.

Now to confidence. I have many things written, and the start of five novels which I could choose to submit, but I have no belief in myself. I do not know whether to try the competition. I feel like I should if I am serious about being a writer, but then I think there is no point as they will get so many entries of better quality than mine. I don’t know how to work on my self confidence. I thought about joining a writer’s group, but I think really I have to learn to trust myself.

    Why don’t you leave the judgement of your writing or novels to the readers …. You have five novels ready just submit one and see what happens! Good luck
