I woke up 3:30 am. I had been dreaming. In my dream I was playing jazz on the piano and I could hear it so clearly. I know it was a new creation but I couldn’t note it down as I don’t read or write music. I play the bass guitar by ear or using tabs, and I cannot play the piano. If I could play it, I could record the music but instead it’s gone. My daughter and son-in-law both play the piano. Maybe I can learn someday. I feel illiterate when it comes to music.

I also had the lyrics for a pop song come into my head. This often happens. Songs almost write themselves. The verses and chorus just come to me, especially as I’m waking up and my subconscious is not suppressed by day to day stuff. I had to make a decision though; get up and write or get back to sleep. I chose to try and sleep as I had work in the morning, and I don’t enjoy teaching the noisy children if I am tired.

It was special to me because I had worked at the West Freugh Satellite Ground Station, years ago, tracking satellites…
