This afternoon, after the open house for newcomers at the academy was finished, we went a drive to a lake about an hour from home. There’s a bridge across the lake, long walks and nice cafes. However, by far the best thing today was the maple trees. They are stunning just now. Orange and deep red. The look like flames against the sky.

We went a walk before going to the Red Bridge cafe for an Americano and a croissant. I’m having a flare up of my arthritis though. I have arthritis only in my big toes luckily! My right toe is being particularly bothersome lately and it was sore to walk. I have nice, bouncy, cushioned shoes which help ease things a little but bending the joint is painful. I badly need exercise but my toes make walking or running difficult. I used to really enjoy swimming so that’s something I should do again.
