I’m not a pundit who can offer analysis, nor am I the biggest fan of soccer. The last World Cup I remember watching a lot of was the 1998 World Cup in France because I had French friends then. That was also the last time, coincidentally, that Scotland qualified. But, today as always, I am a proud Scot! I watched the match, playing in Boston, from South Korea, and listened to Flower of Scotland with a swell in my heart.

Sadly McTominay’s effort hit the post or we’d have won 2-0. The goal that did win us the match, by McGinn, was not the most spectacular, but it was a goal in the World Cup! I was so excited, as I’m sure the whole Tartan Army were. For the first time since the 1990s we have a chance to play in the biggest tournament in the world. They looked a bit tired and scrappy in the second half but they held on. On to the next challenge now. Morocco.

  • Of Heat and Health

It’s getting so warm here. 34 degrees celsius some days. And it’s only going to get hotter as the weeks go on. I sweat away in the classroom because, if we put the aircon on, the children complain they are cold! As a Scot I don’t think I’ll ever get used to Korean summers. We’re…
