Well my days off have ended and I was back at work today. Luckily there are two free periods on a Thursday so it wasn’t a total shock to the system. I was able to ease back in. Tomorrow is a full day but it’s almost the weekend. I didn’t do the things I’d planned on my days off, but this vacation was mostly about Lunar New Year and family so it doesn’t leave a lot of time for things like writing or reading.

Duolingo is something you can do when you have five minutes free but, of late, I’d given up on it. I felt I was doing it every day but had only gained a handful of new words. I’m no closer to speaking Korean in a meaningful way. You’d think living in South Korea you could pick the language up easily, but not so. At work there’s a strict English only policy and we communicate in English at home. Even in Starbucks servers are keen to use their English. There just are not many opportunities to use Korean on a daily basis. I guess I’ll have to keep going with Duolingo and hope some of it sticks.

My fiance used to play in a hobby band, just for fun. They met up last week for a meal for the first time in ages, while I was watching Michael at the cinema with the native teachers. They decided they’d like to play together again. They were a band on and off for ten…
