Yesterday we went to the Hantan river basalt gorge and waterfall in Pocheon, South Korea. It was misty and dull but we wanted to get out. It’s an ancient and interesting site to go to. Sadly, despite a little rain lately, there was only a slow drip for a waterfall. The gorge itself was beautiful though, green and verdant. The only problem for me was the many, steep steps. Going down was fine, but ascending after was very tiring on my legs.

We then went a walk over the recently built ‘Y’ shaped suspension bridge and I don’t know if was the tiredness or my terror at the heights but my legs were wobbly. The bridge felt okay if you didn’t look down. The gentle swaying made me want to grip the sides and not move. Thankfully there were not many people or the bridge would have been more bouncy. Luckily at the top there was a nice cafe selling ice cold organic Italian lemonade, which was very refreshing.

A few weeks ago, before the previous teachers left, we went to Outback Steakhouse for lunch together. I ordered chicken salad. The seasoning was off as the chicken was too salty. The thing that I couldn’t get over though was how sweet the cheese soup was. The bread and butter were sweet too. I have…

  • Of Retro and Remembering

Today we had Retro Day at the school. I didn’t have any clothes from the past but I found a worn baseball cap, from San Francisco, that looked vintage. The kids dressed up. There was a photo zone and fashion parade. We made dalgona candy and ddakji, which people may know of now, due to…
